Description
I told Matt, 'I want to be able to catch a huge wave, get a really crazy barrel, and either do a giant air or a big turn. I want it to be versatile. I don’t want it to be a board I can only ride at Pipe. I want it to also work at waves like Sunset and Haleiwa where you can do big turns.' I think we nailed it! It has been my go-to board for Pipeline this winter, but the design is intended for much more than just Pipeline. Any slightly bigger wave where you want to do big turns, get in earlier, or get a really crazy barrel, this is the board.
The Details
This board's key features include its paddle power and asymmetrical quad placement. With bigger waves in mind, paddle power is key. Keeping a wide point forward and carrying thickness through the nose helps this board paddle like a board 3-4 inches longer than it is. The asymmetrical quad setup offers the hold and stability of a quad with the responsiveness of a board made for doing turns.
